    There is a great piece at the LA Times with Harrison Ford talking about his new movie Cowboys and Aliens.  Here are some choice quotes:

    “The thing I was most curious about coming in was tone,” Ford said as he sweated beneath his wool period-piece costume on the New Mexico set. “You don’t get it off the page. They’re just words, so we dug in for almost two months of work on the script in these story conferences trying to define the character and the lines and the tone. The trick of this thing and the beauty of this thing is that it’s a cowboy movie first and then stuff happens. Even after stuff happens it doesn’t change — it hasn’t suddenly changed into another kind of movie. It’s still a cowboy movie. And that’s what’s incredible about it because nobody has done that before, that’s new territory.”

    “Indiana Jones is kind of a western character, in a sense,” Ford said, “but the conventions of a real western basically are terse language and anamorphic frame – you see things and you appropriate a lot of information visually – and it’s spare and focused and the relationships are spare and focused. And that’s what I’m loving about it, there’s no wasted language or wasted energy. You really have a focus on the true ambition of a scene and there’s time to leave atmosphere and air around it.”

    The movie is hitting theatres on 7/29/2011!!!

    A Time for KillingA Time for Killing is a Civil War western about Confederate soldiers who escape from a prison and go on a wild violent adventure.  It is also Harrison Ford’s first credited role in a movie.  The young Ford was only 25 in this movie and he plays the role of Lt.     This is another obscure piece of TV history with Harrison Ford.  Apparently it’s a bizarre Christmas special  with the full cast of Star Wars with a full circus and Golden Girls and other hilariousness.  It is so bad that it has a cult following.    Sometimes you will find the VHS  or DVD of this Star Wars Holiday Special on Ebay or Amazon but it is not always available.

    Water to Wine is a short indie film made by a bunch of snowboarders. Harrison Ford did the movie for free and his son Malcolm Ford is also in it. Harrison Ford was credited as Jethro the Bus Driver in the introduction. It is half documentary and half comedy. Unfortunately there were only 300 copies of this and it’s not widely available.
